Many young people don't know it, but betting or gambling can become addictive. In the same way that people become addicted to drugs and alcohol, some people can have difficulty trying to stop betting or gambling. Gambling problems can affect persons of all ages and backgrounds. Teens and young adults with gambling problems often have higher rates of alcohol, drug and tobacco use and are more likely to commit crimes or participate in illegal activities.
